About the role#
As an Apparel Innovation Design Intern, you will join the Nike Explore Team to help define the future of performance apparel. You will work alongside design leaders to research athlete needs, cultural shifts, and emerging technologies. This project-based internship focuses on the intersection of sport and modern culture, requiring you to translate insights into functional product concepts.
What you'll do#
- Research athlete needs, performance trends, and emerging materials.
- Build inspiration boards, sketches, and product stories.
- Explore silhouette, proportion, and construction through digital and physical methods.
- Create concepts using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CLO, Vizcom, Newarc, or Gravity Sketch.
- Develop physical mockups and prototypes.
- Collaborate with partners in pattern making, materials, and manufacturing.
- Respond to feedback from design and cross-functional teams.
- Present your final project and design process to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master's degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A portfolio showcasing your design process and interest in performance or innovation.
- Experience translating research and consumer insights into product concepts.
- Working knowledge of apparel construction, pattern making, draping, and physical prototyping.
- Proficiency with design tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CLO, Vizcom, Newarc, or Gravity Sketch.
- Ability to build clear visual stories and mood boards.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to share ideas and respond to feedback.
- Curiosity for technology, materials, and design problem-solving.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
