About the role#
Nidec Motor Corporation is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op for the Acoustics and Vibration Lab in St. Louis. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling term. You will work 30 hours per week, starting in January 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with acoustic, vibration, electrical, and mechanical motor testing.
- Prepare motors, applications, test fixtures, and sensors for testing.
- Design and modify test fixtures.
- Troubleshoot test issues, including disassembling and reassembling parts for modifications.
- Use lab tools and measurement equipment to determine the electrical and mechanical properties of motors.
- Perform basic coding for data analysis, manipulation, and post-processing.
- Write reports, graph data, and interpret results for engineer review.
- Prepare and ship parts to customers or other company locations.
- Safely operate hand and power tools like drills and band saws.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. degree program for Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and basic electrical circuit theory.
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with MATLAB or ANSYS is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of acoustics, digital signal processing, Fourier Analysis, or modal analysis is a plus.
