About the role#
The R&D Mechanical Engineering Co-op role involves designing and developing solutions for technical challenges throughout the product development cycle. You will work cross-functionally with engineers from various disciplines on hardware and technology development for next-generation diagnostic devices. This position provides exposure to operations and product support departments within a regulated medical device environment.
What you'll do#
- Create mechanical designs and technical drawings.
- Build prototypes for new designs, concepts, and fixturing.
- Perform bench testing of prototypes and develop test methods.
- Conduct design verification activities.
- Assist with risk management analysis.
- Analyze technical data to determine function and performance specifications.
- Document concepts and testing results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program as a sophomore or junior.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Biomedical, Engineering Mechanics, or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 out of 4.0.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Familiarity with CAD software, with Solidworks being a plus.
- Experience with 3D-printing technology and shop or machining work.
