About the role#
As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Co-op, you will support the implementation, improvement, and communication of Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSES) programs. You will work within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment, reporting to the Environmental Health, Safety, and Facilities Manager. This role involves partnering with manufacturing teams, site leadership, and global compliance partners to turn regulatory needs into practical solutions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in reviewing and updating core site compliance programs, including HazCom, LOTO, PPE, and Walking-Working Surfaces.
- Align the Permit to Work process with corporate standards and local operations.
- Conduct routine site safety walks and support near-miss or incident investigations using structured problem-solving methods.
- Co-facilitate Safety Committee activities and develop site communications.
- Lead initiatives such as the annual company-wide Safety Day or Spotlight event.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute site fire drills and emergency response exercises while documenting observations for improvement.
- Analyze metrics and track progress on sustainability goals, including waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Previous experience in an internship, co-op, manufacturing, laboratory, facilities, or safety role is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, workplace safety, or environmental compliance.
- Experience with data analysis, presentations, project management, or developing training materials.

- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Term: Summer 2027 and Fall 2027.
