    About the role#

    The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op program is a structured experiential learning opportunity within the Electrical Connections business. Students rotate through various departments, including Product Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, Labs and Compliance, and Digital Media Development. You will engage in the entire engineering process from initial development and testing to final production. This role allows you to apply academic knowledge to practical workplace situations while contributing to existing processes.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform engineering calculations to analyze product designs for functionality and specification accuracy.
    • Use 2D and 3D modeling software to create and maintain engineering documentation.
    • Assist in the creation of detailed drawings, 3D models, schematics, specifications, installation instructions, assembly prints, and test reports.
    • Utilize analytical tools including Finite Element Analysis (ABAQUS) and Matlab.
    • Participate in site visits and work directly with end-user customers.
    • Fabricate and evaluate product concepts.
    • Assist with capital equipment purchases, maintenance improvements, and tooling improvements.
    • Support process improvement projects, including tooling design and time studies.
    • Engage with the Quality department to correct technical information and design inspection gauges.
    • Develop test plans to verify product design intent, procure materials, and conduct validation testing.
    • Design and improve test fixturing.
    • Participate and present in design review meetings.
    • Manage routing and BOM changes for products.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at an accredited college or university.
    • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, with a mechanical or mechanical engineering technology focus preferred.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Authorized to work in the United States without restrictions now or in the future.

    • Location: Blue Ash, OH.
    • Commitment: Able to complete a full-time co-op for 8 months, covering a semester and summer.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Employment: Full-time, paid position.
