About the role#
KWKT-TV provides supervised, educational newsroom internships for college students. You will work alongside professionals to gain practical knowledge of broadcast and digital journalism. This role is unpaid and intended for educational purposes. You are expected to complete any forms required by your school to receive academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily newsroom operations.
- Assist with news production and story development.
- Write content for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Shoot and edit video footage.
- Support the assignment desk and monitor scanners.
- Engage in news gathering activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program related to journalism, communications, or media production.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to remain flexible and follow supervisor instructions.
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of company and proprietary information.
- Ability to follow all company policies and safety procedures.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Hours are determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns are not eligible for wages or benefits.
