About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply your technical training within the reinsurance industry. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop a foundation for a career in engineering. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Create, test, and support Python-based applications and predictive models deployed as RESTful microservices APIs.
- Build and expand ETL pipeline practices to manage data flow into cloud infrastructure.
- Deploy, monitor, and improve visibility for production applications.
- Integrate security into all stages of the engineering pipeline.
- Build data products using cloud infrastructure.
- Incorporate Git, testing, CI/CD workflows, and pull requests into your coding projects.
- Collaborate on research projects in machine learning and deep learning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Bioinformatics, or an equivalent field.
- Familiarity with Python or other object-oriented languages.
- Experience developing software using the software design life cycle.
- Proficiency with agentic coding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to learn independently.
- Ability to problem-solve and work in a collaborative environment.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms, Terraform, Kubernetes, or Helm.
- Preferred: Interest in full-stack development or previous exposure to the insurance or financial services sector.
Location & details#
- This role is based in New York, New York.
- The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.
- The pay range is $44 to $54 per hour, depending on skills, education level, and experience.
