About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to apply technical training within the reinsurance industry. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that transform the life insurance sector. The role focuses on building scalable products while using machine learning, DevOps, and security practices. You will receive mentorship to help build a foundation for your future career.
What you'll do#
- Create, test, and support the development of Python applications and predictive models.
- Build and expand ETL pipelining practices to support cloud data infrastructure.
- Deploy, monitor, and improve visibility for production applications.
- Integrate security into all stages of the engineering pipeline.
- Incorporate Git, testing, CI/CD workflows, and pull requests into coding projects.
- Participate in research projects focused on machine learning and deep learning.
What you'll need#
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Bioinformatics, or an equivalent program.
- Familiarity with Python or other object-oriented languages.
- Experience developing software using principles from the software design life cycle.
- Proficiency with agentic coding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to learn independently.
- Ability to creatively solve problems.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms, experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm, interest in full-stack development, and previous exposure to insurance or financial services.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
- Compensation: $1,700 to $2,100 per week.
- Status: Full-time, paid position. Applicants must be current students returning to studies after the co-op.
