About the role#
The Discovery, Preclinical and Translational Medicine (DPTM) Operations internship is a 12-week program based in West Point, Pennsylvania. This role supports laboratory and facility operations for research and development teams. You will gain exposure to equipment management, compliance, project execution, and operational analytics. The work focuses on improving the scientist experience and ensuring research activities remain efficient and safe.
What you'll do#
- Support daily laboratory operations and facility management across research buildings.
- Manage equipment lifecycles including onboarding, inventory reviews, data quality, and decommissioning.
- Build dashboards, metrics, and analytics to help teams make operational decisions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence projects.
- Assist with documentation reviews, data integrity efforts, and compliance programs.
- Track capital projects and facility improvements.
- Collaborate with facilities, engineering, and laboratory staff.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and executive summaries for operational reviews.
- Identify ways to streamline workflows and improve laboratory support processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Data Analytics, Business, or Operations Management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a collaborative team.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Power Query is preferred.
- Interest in laboratory operations, facilities management, or project management.
- Demonstrated leadership through work, academic, or extracurricular activities.
