About the role#
The Public Relations Intern supports Minnesota Major League Volleyball by assisting with game-day media operations, creating team communications, and providing administrative support. This role ensures that media members, broadcasters, and internal staff receive professional information while helping showcase the team and its athletes.
What you'll do#
- Manage press box setup and breakdown for all home matches.
- Prepare and distribute game-day materials like lineup sheets, rosters, and statistics packets.
- Assist with media credential check-in and coordinate post-match interview availability.
- Serve as a liaison between media, broadcasters, team staff, and league representatives.
- Write, edit, and proofread communications materials, including press releases and weekly reports.
- Monitor local and national media coverage and compile daily or weekly clip reports.
- Assist with website content updates and maintain media contact databases.
- Help prepare players and coaches for media interviews.
- Support photography and video staff by coordinating media access.
- Participate in department meetings and collaborate with marketing, social media, and volleyball operations teams.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in an internship, student organization, campus media, or athletic communications is preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe InDesign.
- Knowledge of volleyball is preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly and manage multiple projects.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, seasonal internship for Summer 2027 based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- The role is on-site.
- You must be able to work all home matches during the 2027 Minnesota Major League Volleyball season.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks such as standing, bending, and walking.
