About the role#
This is a full-time, seasonal internship within the CMH Health practice, focusing on Medicare Advantage and Part D business. This role requires a significant time commitment during the busy season, with expectations of at least 40 hours per week and occasional requirements for 50 to 60 hours per week. The position runs from mid-January 2027 to mid-June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform data analysis and implement software solutions using Excel, VBA, SAS, and Python.
- Assist with pricing and analysis for Medicare Advantage and Part D plans.
- Provide strategy support for medical, dental, and pharmacy benefit designs for insurance carriers.
- Coordinate with consultants and managers to analyze claims data, quantify insurance costs, and model payment scenarios.
- Review peer work and assist with research and product development.
- Participate in consulting activities including reserving, financial projections, and mergers and acquisitions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Junior standing is preferred, though freshmen and sophomores will be considered.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2 is preferred.
- At least one passed actuarial exam is preferred for candidates on the actuarial track.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Chicago, Illinois; Brookfield, Wisconsin; or Windsor, Connecticut.
- If working on-site, employees are expected to be in the office at least three days per week.
- This is a paid, non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay at one and one-half times the hourly rate for any hours worked over 40 per week.
