About the role#
The CMH Health Practice is seeking motivated individuals for a full-time, seasonal actuarial internship. This role focuses on Medicare Advantage and Medicare Advantage Part D business areas. Interns will work alongside consultants and management to gain experience in healthcare financing and insurance consulting. This is a non-exempt, overtime-eligible position requiring a significant time commitment during the busy season.
What you'll do#
- Perform data analysis using Excel, VBA, SAS, and Python to support consulting projects.
- Assist with pricing and analysis for Medicare Advantage and Part D plans.
- Provide strategy support for medical, dental, and pharmacy benefit designs.
- Coordinate with consultants and managers to analyze claims data, quantify insurance costs, and model payment scenarios.
- Review peer work and assist with research and product development.
- Participate in consulting activities including reserving, financial projections, and mergers and acquisitions.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Availability to work full-time from mid-January 2027 to mid-June 2027, with the expectation of 40 to 60+ hours per week.
- Junior standing is preferred, though freshmen and sophomores will be considered.
- At least one actuarial exam passed is preferred for those on an actuarial track.
- A GPA of 3.2 or above is preferred.
- Strong communication, time management, and analytical thinking skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Locations: Chicago, Illinois; Brookfield, Wisconsin; or Windsor, Connecticut.
- Modality: On-site work is preferred, with a requirement of at least three days per week in the office if working on-site.
- Compensation: This role is eligible for overtime pay at time and one-half for hours exceeding 40 per week. A housing stipend may be provided.
