About the role#
Milliman is seeking an Actuarial Analyst Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This 11-week, full-time internship is based in the Indianapolis Health practice. Interns will work on a dedicated project and deliver a final presentation to leadership and peers. The program includes 1:1 mentoring, professional development sessions, and social activities.
What you'll do#
- Analyze healthcare cost and utilization data using claims databases.
- Examine benefit plan and insurance pricing.
- Perform experience analysis, reserving, and technical research.
- Provide financial and statistical analysis.
- Reconcile claims data and project future costs.
- Prepare and present written reports and oral presentations.
- Use emerging tools, including AI-enabled technologies, to support analysis and workflow efficiency.
- Support senior staff in strategic projects related to environmental changes or healthcare reform.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology, Political Science, Data Science, Health Administration, Economics, or another quantitative field.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Willingness to learn new software and coding skills such as SQL, SAS, or VBA.
- Basic knowledge of Gen AI tools and their application for productivity.
- A desire to expand actuarial skills and a commitment to obtaining Fellowship.
- Preferred: A cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and at least one passed Society of Actuaries exam.
