About the role#
The Indianapolis Health practice is seeking an Actuarial Analyst Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This 11-week program offers the opportunity to work on projects within the Health and Human Services team, which supports actuarial services for state Medicaid agencies. Interns will receive 1:1 mentoring, participate in professional development sessions, and conclude the program by presenting their work to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Analyze healthcare cost and utilization data using claims databases.
- Examine benefit plan and insurance pricing.
- Perform experience analysis, reserving, and project future costs.
- Complete technical research and computer modeling.
- Provide financial and statistical analysis.
- Reconcile claims data and support ad-hoc client requests.
- Prepare and present written reports and oral presentations to communicate results.
- Use emerging tools and AI-enabled technologies to support workflow efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Health Administration, Psychology, or Political Science.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Excel and a willingness to learn new software and coding skills such as SQL, SAS, or VBA.
- Basic knowledge of Gen AI tools and how they can enhance productivity.
- A desire to expand actuarial skills and a commitment to obtaining Fellowship.
- Preferred: Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and at least one passed Society of Actuaries exam.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
