About the role#
Michigan United is seeking a Canvassing Fellowship Lead to support our 2026 electoral outreach program. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lansing. You will lead a team of fellows, set standards for door-to-door conversations, and help build power across the state. This position is temporary and concludes on November 6, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Execute the electoral canvassing program by performing door-to-door outreach.
- Support and mentor Canvassing Fellows in the field, including shadowing them at doors to provide feedback.
- Assist with daily launches, onboardings, and team briefings.
- Record data accurately using the MiniVAN app and ensure overall data integrity.
- Troubleshoot issues on turf and maintain team morale.
- Attend staff development and fellowship training sessions.
- Collect stories, videos, and photos to support organizational promotion.
- Conduct occasional relational outreach via SMS.

- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to drive to and from canvassing locations.
- A data-capable smartphone.
Location & details#
- Location: Lansing, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $25 per hour for 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: A $1,250 retention bonus is available for staff who remain through November 6, 2026.
- Benefits: Includes health insurance, a health savings account or stipend after 90 days, paid time off, paid sick time, mileage reimbursement, and stipends for internet and phone use.
