About the role#
Michael Baker International is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Public Works and Transportation team in Carlsbad, California. This role offers hands-on experience supporting infrastructure projects for municipal and county clients throughout Southern California. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical knowledge in a consulting environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with transportation, traffic, active transportation, and public works projects.
- Prepare plans, reports, cost estimates, and technical documents.
- Perform research, data collection, and basic engineering calculations.
- Build experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design software.
- Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and field visits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for civil engineering.
- A genuine interest in transportation or public works engineering.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- An eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is preferred.
