About the role#
As a Preconstruction Co-op, you will join the team to work on projects from day one. You will learn how to estimate scopes of work, coordinate with vendors, and support operations groups during estimating and after job turnover. High-performing co-ops may lead a multi-million-dollar bid under the guidance of a Sales Engineer.
What you'll do#
- Assist Estimators and Sales Engineers in all phases of the bid process.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to solicit material and equipment quotes.
- Manage and organize construction documents.
- Review project drawings and specifications to develop estimates and proposals.
- Produce labor and materials reports using software tools.
- Support Preconstruction tech initiatives, including RPAs and data capture.
- Attend jobsite walks to track and measure estimate performance.
- Foster relationships with profit centers and represent the Preconstruction department.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Co-op program at an accredited engineering school.
- Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to complete at least two full-time, alternating or sequential Co-op rotations before graduation.
- Ability to avoid a full courseload while working.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and detail-focused approach.
- Ability to problem solve and think innovatively.

- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Terms: Winter 2027 and Fall 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time and paid.
- Physical requirements: Occasional jobsite visits may involve climbing stairs or ladders and navigating active construction areas. You may occasionally need to lift up to 50 pounds.
