About the role#
As a Construction Project Management Co-op, you work alongside project managers to oversee mechanical, plumbing, and controls construction. You will receive training and take on tasks that contribute to project success. This role involves supporting both estimating and operations, collaborating with vendors, and assisting field foremen with customer needs and site logistics. You may have the opportunity to manage projects from start to finish under the guidance of a project manager.
What you'll do#
- Manage mechanical, plumbing, or controls construction using software such as Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, and BIM 360.
- Coordinate with vendors to schedule and procure materials and equipment.
- Update and project cost expenditures for budgets.
- Plan with project managers and field foremen to reach major schedule milestones.
- Assist in the preconstruction phase by gathering quotes, performing take-offs, and assembling estimates.
- Obtain permits, submittals, and other necessary documentation.
- Survey project sites to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and production values.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a co-op program at an accredited engineering school.
- Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to complete at least three full-time alternating co-op rotations before graduation.
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with project managers, drafting, field staff, and fabrication shops.
- Ability to use time productively and maximize efficiency.
