About the role#
Cox Engineering is looking for a Pre-Construction Intern to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work under the direction of the Pre-Construction Department Manager to assist with the administration and organization of mechanical pipe and sheet metal projects. This role provides hands-on experience in CAD detailing, industry communication, and building construction.
What you'll do#
- Assist mechanical pipe and sheet metal coordinators with project activities.
- Help with general piping layout and coordination with other trades in the office and the field.
- Create install drawings, spool maps, hanger drawings, and equipment layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Attend project coordination meetings.
- Provide support to field personnel and project management teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 3rd or 4th year student in a 4-year program, or a 4th or 5th year student in a 5-year program.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Naviswork.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
