About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the field starting in May 2027. You will join our Edmonton Geomatics branch to support project delivery across construction, regulatory, and facilities sectors. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to apply your academic knowledge to real-world infrastructure and development projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the use of GNSS receivers for RTK, RTN, and static measurements, as well as total stations and levels.
- Maintain, clean, and monitor the condition of equipment and vehicles.
- Work in various field environments across Edmonton and surrounding project sites.
- Gain exposure to emerging technologies, including drones, 3D laser scanning, and reality capture tools.
- Participate in our safety practices to ensure all team members work safely.
- Support both field and office activities for infrastructure, development, and Energy & Resources projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Diploma or Degree program in Geomatics Engineering, Geomatics Technology, Surveying, GIS, Geospatial, Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work in outdoor settings, including wilderness or backcountry environments, for extended periods with varied hours.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work out of town.
- Ability to work on busy sites with varied terrain and lift heavy equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, good judgement, and clear communication skills.
- Modern technical aptitude.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Previous work experience in outdoor environments and an interest in advanced survey technologies are considered assets.
