About the role#
Matrox Imaging is hiring a CAD Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship based in Dorval, Quebec. You will work on product development projects and mechanical integration for electronic systems.
What you'll do#
- Participate in feasibility assessments for new product development.
- Research and qualify mechanical and electromechanical components.
- Create 3D product concepts and models.
- Design enclosures, systems, and subsystems, including PCB outlines and component placement.
- Perform tolerance stackup analysis.
- Generate 3D models and 2D drawings, including silkscreen, using SolidWorks or FreeCad.
- Investigate quality issues and propose corrections.
- Build prototypes using 3D printing.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
- Strong skills in 3D design software like SolidWorks or FreeCad.
- An interest in enclosure design and mechanical integration for electronics.
- A desire to learn about certification requirements for electrical and mechanical compliance, such as FCC, UL, CSA, and CE.
- Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
- The ability to coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Strong multitasking skills to manage several projects at once.
- Proficiency in both English and French, written and spoken.
- Knowledge of a scripting or programming language like Visual Basic is an asset.
- You are autonomous, versatile, and goal-oriented.
