About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship program at the Mativ Whiting Mill. You will work with a multi-functional team to gain experience in real-time production and mill operations. You will be assigned specific projects and have regular exposure to the mill leadership team. This role is primarily Monday through Friday, though some evening or weekend work may be required.
What you'll do#
- Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
- Work with the team on process efficiency, cost savings, and technology advancement.
- Update existing mill documentation and drawings.
- Identify paper defects and develop plans to resolve them.
- Participate in new customer or new product trials.
- Attend leadership meetings and report on assigned tasks.
- Modify or create standard operating procedures in coordination with leadership.
- Complete project work as assigned by mill management.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering degree program.
- Completion of at least one full year of course work.
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
- Ability to analyze information to find opportunities and communicate findings effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Willingness to work on the operating floor and wear required PPE.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical capabilities test, drug or alcohol screening, and background check.
- A 3.0 GPA and prior internship experience are preferred.
