About the role#
The Student Intern for Food Services supports the daily operations of the dining facility at the Joliet Job Corps Center. This is a part-time, paid position that requires students to balance their internship duties with their ongoing training. You will work under the direction of the food services supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment for students and staff.
What you'll do#
- Wash dishes and restock supplies for the serving line.
- Clean and sanitize the dining area, food preparation stations, and dish room to meet health standards.
- Provide quality customer service to students and staff.
- Mentor fellow students and model appropriate professional behaviors.
- Monitor student behavior and provide interventions when necessary.
- Support and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Maintain accountability for center property and follow all safety protocols.
- Participate in employability programs and attend required staff training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the Joliet Job Corps Center.
- At least 90 days of time spent on center.
- Some prior school or training in food preparation.
- An aptitude for cafeteria-style work.
- Ability to dress in compliance with sanitation regulations.
- A valid food handler’s permit if required by the state of Illinois.
Location & details#
- Location: Joliet, IL.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $17.20 per hour.
- Schedule: Wednesday through Thursday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and Friday through Sunday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
