About the role#
MAAS Companies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the $235 million University Student Union project at California State University, Long Beach. This design-build project involves renovating 180,000 square feet of existing space and adding 50,000 square feet of new construction. The project is scheduled to run through June 2028. You will work on-site with the University Design and Construction Services team to provide technical and administrative support throughout the preconstruction, construction, and closeout phases.
What you'll do#
- Manage project document control, including plans, meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, change orders, ASIs, and schedules.
- Track and file documents throughout the design development and permitting process.
- Coordinate stakeholder reviews of design documents, including collecting, vetting, and tracking comments until they are addressed.
- Review change order requests for merit and fair pricing and prepare them for processing.
- Lead the project closeout and turnover process, including managing files for the CSU system audit.
- Conduct site condition verifications and provide field support.
- Manage project meetings, including scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up tasks.
What you'll need#
- At least 4 years of experience in the construction industry as a project engineer or a similar role.
- Experience working on major capital projects.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional manner.
- Availability to work on-site at the Long Beach campus.
- Experience with design-build projects is preferred.
- Experience with a general contractor on projects of $50 million or more is preferred.
