About the role#
This 12-week summer internship within the Optimisation Strats Team (Post Trade Engineering) provides an opportunity to experience a career as a Financial Engineer. You will work alongside experienced engineers to solve real-world problems and contribute to the development of our core services. The programme begins in June 2027 and is based in our New York City office.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, implement, and maintain algorithms used in our services.
- Develop models for linear or convex optimisation problems and interpret solutions as financial transactions.
- Handle large data sets by implementing data pre-processing logic, post-processing validation checks, and proposal generations.
- Collaborate with the Product Development team to enhance products based on client feedback and run analysis.
- Develop new scaling schemes to improve reliability and performance.
- Introduce mixed integer models to achieve rounded solutions.
- Investigate sensitivity to small changes in data to understand constraint relaxation.
- Refactor code to share functionality and business logic.
- Improve runtime performance by investigating and adding heuristics.
- Develop functionality to validate incoming client data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the penultimate year of an undergraduate degree or final year of an undergraduate degree, with plans to continue to a Masters programme for the 2027/28 academic year.
- Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
- Experience with Python, ideally including familiarity with pandas and numpy.
- A strong mathematical background, specifically in numerical methods, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
