About the role#
The Software Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience building software for AI-enabled legal and professional products. You will work with senior engineers to learn and apply best practices in coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. You will contribute to product features, internal tools, APIs, and reusable services while learning to use AI development tools responsibly.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineering, product, UX, and data science teams to design and build software solutions.
- Develop well-structured code for web applications, APIs, services, and internal tools.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to prototype, document, test, and improve code.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Help troubleshoot software issues, write tests, and resolve defects.
- Contribute to AI-enabled product capabilities, including workflow automation, tool orchestration, and telemetry.
- Document software designs, technical decisions, and development processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduation date after June 2027.
- Programming fundamentals in Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Git, software development methodologies, testing practices, APIs, and cloud concepts.
- AI fluency or curiosity regarding large language models, prompt patterns, and responsible AI practices.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027 (11-12 weeks).
- Start Date: June 7, 2027.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $22-$34 per hour, depending on degree level.
- Note: This position does not provide relocation assistance and is not eligible for benefits.
