About the role#
This internship at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center offers an opportunity to contribute to Earth science data systems. You will work on-site with a team of engineers to support research and technology that assists scientists and decision-makers. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement software components based on detailed requirements.
- Coordinate technical status and activities with team members and project leads.
- Conduct software testing and document the process through test plans and reports.
- Support software planning, including requirements definition and activity estimation.
- Participate in code reviews and manage configuration change requests.
- Ensure all development work follows established standards and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering fields.
- Experience with Python and C/C++.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and database systems.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for facility access.
- Three years of continuous residency in the U.S. is required to obtain a Government Security credential.
- Experience with Postgres, AWS Cloud Services, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, or Artificial Intelligence for code generation is a plus.
- Familiarity with remote sensing, digital image or signal processing, and basic geography concepts is helpful.
