About the role#
As a Data Science Intern, you will analyze complex data sets and develop practical skills in statistical analysis. You will contribute to machine learning and AI-enabled product solutions while working alongside data scientists and engineers. This role focuses on exploring model performance, data quality, and customer-impact metrics for products that use professional content. You will help evaluate AI-powered experiences while building hands-on experience in responsible AI practices.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, organize, and document datasets for analysis, model development, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with data science, engineering, product, and UX teams to improve predictive models and machine learning workflows.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and data-quality issues.
- Support experiments involving generative AI, large language models, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows.
- Contribute to model and AI-output evaluation, focusing on metrics for accuracy, grounding, reliability, bias, and safety.
- Create visualizations, reports, and notebooks to communicate insights and model performance.
- Document assumptions, limitations, and evaluation methods to ensure work is reproducible.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or engineering.
- Graduation date after June 2027.
- Experience with programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, and common data science libraries.
- A foundation in statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
- Awareness of generative AI, large language models, and responsible AI practices.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

- Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027 (11-12 weeks).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time paid internship.
