    About the role#

    The Lansing Board of Water & Light is hiring a Human Resource Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work within the Compensation Team and the broader HR department. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lansing, Michigan, running from May 17, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will receive a pay rate of $23.00 per hour.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate on compensation and merit increase processes.
    • Update job profiles and participate in progression development.
    • Assist with job architecture projects and HRIS initiatives in Workday.
    • Conduct surveys and collect data on current HR workflows.
    • Document and analyze information using Microsoft Office tools.
    • Provide weekly progress reports and recommendations to HR leadership.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts.
    • Perform operational tasks and use SAP software.
    • Follow the BWL Safety Manual and wear personal protective equipment when working in the field.
    • Attend required training and safety awareness sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited Business Management program with a focus on Human Resources.
    • Junior or senior status during the summer of 2027.
    • Enrollment in fall 2027 classes.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
    • Strong professional communication skills.
    • Ability to document and analyze data effectively.
    • Capability to communicate with leaders and employees via phone, email, video conferencing, and in-person meetings.
    • Reliable and predictable attendance.
