    About the role#

    The Lansing Board of Water & Light is hiring a Human Resources Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time, paid position offers students the chance to work directly with the Talent Acquisition Team on recruitment, labor relations, and employee engagement projects. You will gain hands-on experience in a utility environment while contributing to daily HR operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage recruitment tasks including job postings, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and offer processing.
    • Update and maintain HRIS records using Workday.
    • Collect and analyze data through surveys and internal research to document HR workflows.
    • Prepare weekly progress reports and provide recommendations to HR leadership.
    • Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office tools to manage documentation and data.
    • Participate in training and safety awareness programs, including adherence to the BWL Safety Manual.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited Business Management program with a focus on Human Resources.
    • Junior or senior academic status during summer 2027.
    • Enrollment in classes for the fall 2027 semester.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
    • Strong professional communication skills for interacting with employees and leadership.
    • Ability to pass a background check, substance screening, and physical examination.

    • This internship is located on-site in Lansing, Michigan.
    • The term runs from May 17, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
    • The pay rate is $23.00 per hour.
