About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. This includes work with Surface Mount Technology assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers to manage product introductions, root-cause investigations, and process improvements.
What you'll do#
- Establish work instructions and develop process procedures.
- Qualify new tools and equipment while overseeing non-conformance reviews.
- Implement engineering changes and maintain labor standards.
- Design, develop, and transfer manufacturing tools and strategies.
- Coordinate the release of new products by working with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and determine time standards.
- Attend daily shift huddles to support product line key performance indicators.
- Perform economic analyses to identify variances in labor and cycle times.
- Support root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with basic CAD software and 3D printing.
- Experience using statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Rochester, New York.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule (80 hours over 9 days with every other Friday off).
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- Compensation ranges from $22 to $40.50 per hour.
