About the role#
KENT WORLDWIDE is hiring a Process Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This role is based on-site at our cat litter facility in Muscatine, Iowa. You will work alongside our technical and operations teams to improve production efficiency and maintain quality standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the technical team with increasing production capacity while managing costs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process issues directly with the operations team.
- Monitor operations data to support corrective actions and drive performance.
- Develop systems to track productivity metrics and return on assets.
- Identify ways to reduce waste and inefficiency in the production cycle.
- Create and update manufacturing documentation, including process flow charts, time studies, and standard work procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain project insight.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Completion of at least two semesters of engineering coursework.
- Interest in lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency with analytical tools, process balancing, and workflow time studies.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to create and update standard operating procedures.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or operations environment is preferred.
- Ability to lift 32-pound bags of litter on an infrequent basis.
