About the role#
The Process Engineering Intern will contribute to process optimization and safety improvements in a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role that includes both lab-scale and plant-scale work, providing a view of the engineering lifecycle. You will work on projects to improve efficiency, update technical documentation, and enhance safety measures.
What you'll do#
- Conduct lab-scale and plant-scale testing for ion exchange and malic crystallization optimization.
- Update Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to reflect current plant configurations.
- Identify and implement safety improvements within the facility.
- Assist in the automation of crude solution filtration processes.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field.
- Curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to ask questions and seek clarification.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Location: Decatur, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour plus overtime.
- Housing: A stipend of $1,500 to $3,000 is available depending on work and candidate location.
