About the role#
This one-year co-op provides a structured, hands-on opportunity to support Operational Excellence initiatives at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Gurabo. You will contribute to cross-functional projects that drive safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. The role includes formal onboarding to operational tools, mentorship, and opportunities to present results to site leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and execution of process improvement activities to reduce waste and improve flow, quality, and safety.
- Collect, cleanse, analyze, and visualize operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist in root cause analysis, develop countermeasures, and track implementation.
- Create and update standard work, value stream maps, and process maps.
- Design, build, and maintain visual management boards and performance dashboards.
- Facilitate cross-functional team meetings and prepare status updates for leadership.
- Ensure project activities align with site safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 3 years of undergraduate study.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and formulas.
- Strong analytical capability and a problem-solving mindset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time on-site.

- Location: Gurabo, Puerto Rico.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Term: Full-time for one year, spanning from January 2027 through January 2028.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Note: Candidates must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
