About the role#
This is a part-time, year-round student position based in Ames, Iowa. You will work alongside our engineering teams to support product development and research. The role requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week during the academic year, with the expectation of 35-40 hours per week during the summer semester. You must be able to work on-site in Ames during the summer, while academic year assignments may be completed remotely or on-site.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with team members to support engineering goals.
- Propose and evaluate design solutions focused on cost, quality, and performance.
- Develop software using JAVA and other programming languages.
- Test design concepts in lab settings or field environments on prototype equipment.
- Identify and resolve design weaknesses by applying technical knowledge.
- Analyze data from lab and field events to determine impact on product reliability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited USA university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical, Computer, or Software Engineering (other majors may apply).
- A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
- Graduation date of May 2027 or later.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and effective communication skills.
- Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, Python, Visual Basic, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
- Experience with Computer Vision and Machine Learning is preferred.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools or product engineering processes is a plus.
