Case Management Interns support clients as they transition to life in the United States. This role involves a blend of administrative tasks and direct client engagement, helping individuals reach self-sufficiency while gaining experience in refugee resettlement. This is an unpaid internship requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least two months.
What you'll do#
- Assist clients in reaching self-sufficiency as they begin life in America.
- Map community assets and facilitate referrals to community partners.
- Schedule appointments for clients and provide transportation to these appointments.
- Conduct home visits and accompany clients to various services.
- Educate clients on U.S. healthcare and social service systems, cultural understanding, and neighborhood navigation.
- Assist clients with applications for social service assistance programs.
- Input and maintain client information in the organizational database.
- Communicate client concerns to staff and coordinate service plans with supervisors.
- Maintain a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for new refugee families.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an academic program, with a preference for majors in Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Political Science.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Genuine interest in international and refugee issues, along with enthusiasm for working in a multicultural setting.
- Computer literacy, preferably with PC systems.
- A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance, with a willingness to transport clients.
- Ability to pass required background checks and sign confidentiality and policy agreements.
- Completion of the primary COVID-19 vaccination series as defined by the CDC.
- Attendance at a resettlement information session and additional specialized training.
