About the role#
As an Accounting Intern at ITW Mechanical Fastening, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting Finance and Operations teams. You will work on real business initiatives, including financial reporting, data analytics, and process improvement. This role helps you build skills for a future career in accounting or finance while contributing to projects that support leadership decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting tasks.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to develop reporting tools that improve access to key information.
- Organize, validate, and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends.
- Evaluate current reporting processes to find ways to simplify, automate, and improve efficiency.
- Explore how AI and automation tools can improve the accessibility of financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present your project outcomes and recommendations to division leadership.
What you'll need#
- Rising senior status pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively across teams with strong communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities.
- An analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail and comfort working with large data sets.
- Resourceful, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools is preferred.
- Exposure to AI, automation, or process improvement initiatives is preferred.
- Previous internship, project, or coursework related to accounting, finance, or business analytics is preferred.

- Compensation: $23.95 per hour.
