About the role#
The Summer Tax Intern will support the Tax Department by assisting with tax compliance, tax accounting, and administrative tasks. This role provides practical experience in corporate taxation while working alongside tax professionals. You will gain exposure to federal, state, local, and international tax compliance processes.
What you'll do#
- Prepare sales and use tax, property tax, and Canadian GST/QST filings.
- Support the preparation of US federal, state, and local income tax returns and workpapers.
- Gather and organize financial data for tax compliance and provision processes.
- Maintain tax records, supporting schedules, and electronic filing documentation.
- Perform tax research using internal and external resources.
- Assist with fixed asset tax depreciation schedules and reconciliations.
- Support tax account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Participate in tax process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and other departments on special projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor degree in accounting or a related field.
- Completed introductory accounting coursework.
- Familiarity with corporate or individual taxation is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new accounting and tax software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
