About the role#
The Audio Visual Services unit provides technical support for campus classrooms, lecture halls, and meeting rooms. As a student technician, you will help maintain the equipment that keeps our learning spaces functional. This role involves 8-10 hours of work per week on a fixed schedule. You are expected to be available from the week before classes begin through finals week each semester, with optional hours available during academic breaks.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot classroom technology both over the phone and in-person.
- Respond to technical support calls on short notice.
- Staff the office and answer the on-call phone line.
- Perform preventative maintenance on classroom equipment.
- Create and update support tickets to keep the campus community informed.
- Collaborate with teammates to complete tasks and close tickets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Ithaca College.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods and lift 20 lbs comfortably.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Critical thinking skills for effective troubleshooting.
- Completion of the Extron AV Associate certification.
