About the role#
Invariant is seeking Government Relations Interns for the fall 2026 term. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Washington, DC. Interns will engage in substantive work that supports the firm's strategic advice to clients, including companies, trade associations, and nonprofits. The role emphasizes professional growth, mentorship, and the development of high-quality writing skills.
What you'll do#
- Monitor federal legislation and provide updates.
- Summarize congressional hearings.
- Draft briefing documents and conduct research.
- Learn about the legislative process through direct interaction with clients and congressional staff.
- Manage daily tasks that fluctuate based on the congressional calendar and firm needs.
What you'll need#
- Previous experience with a congressional internship or the federal legislative process.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
- Capacity to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take initiative.
- Relevant academic background in Political Science, International Relations, Communications, or Public Health.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning August 31, 2026.
- Compensation: $19 per hour for undergraduate candidates and $24 per hour for graduate candidates.
