About the role#
As an Actuarial Analyst intern, you will join a team of experts to work on hands-on insurance projects. You will receive coaching from experienced actuaries and collaborate with departments such as Underwriting, Marketing, Risk Management, and Finance. This role provides an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world insurance challenges while building your professional network.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with partners on analytical and decision-making assignments.
- Participate in development projects and present your findings and recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Monitor the profitability and competitiveness of insurance portfolios.
- Contribute to the preparation of action plans for future years.
- Assess how emerging trends affect risk profiles, frequency, and severity.
- Apply actuarial techniques to support reserves, reinsurance, and capital requirements.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives to analyze and improve pricing models.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing university studies in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
- Ability to work 35 hours per week.
- Must be an actively enrolled student for the entire duration of the internship.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bilingualism in French and English is required.
- Analytical and synthesizing skills with a strong sense of accountability.
- Adaptability and the ability to work well in a team or autonomously.
- An interest in IT, technology, and innovation.
Location & details#
- Locations: Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, British Columbia.
- Terms: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, and Fall 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (minimum two days per week in the office).
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship.
