About the role#
ICM Inc is hiring a Process Engineering Intern for an on-site role in Colwich, Kansas. This is a full-time, paid position with a rolling start date. You will work directly with our engineering team to learn the fundamentals of ethanol production and plant design.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret P&IDs, including symbols, terminology, and numbering systems.
- Study the ethanol production process by focusing on cook, fermentation, and distillation phases.
- Complete a mass and energy balance to understand plant operations.
- Learn the function of major equipment like heat exchangers and pumps, including the materials used in their construction.
- Develop a basic understanding of plant control schemes.
- Size pumps and pipes using the Cameron Hydraulic Data book and Pipe Flow Expert software.
- Gain exposure to AutoCAD and Navisworks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college program for Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Office products.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with senior management and maintain good relationships with customers.
- A commitment to acting with honesty and integrity.
