About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in laboratory and field testing of construction materials. You will work with our materials testing team to evaluate soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. This role is open to students or recent graduates who want to build practical knowledge in engineering and quality control.
What you'll do#
- Perform lab tests on soils, including moisture content, Atterberg limits, and compaction.
- Test aggregates for gradation, specific gravity, absorption, and cleanliness.
- Assist with asphalt testing for binder content, gradation, compaction, and stability.
- Conduct concrete tests such as slump, air content, unit weight, and compressive strength of cylinders.
- Record and summarize data accurately while following industry standards.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and keep the laboratory environment organized.
- Support senior technicians and engineers on various projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in materials testing and quality control.
- Ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license for potential fieldwork.
- ACI Concrete Strength, ATTI Soils, or ATTI Asphalt certifications are preferred, though we will train motivated candidates.
