    About the role#

    IBM is hiring interns for the Supply Chain Hardware Developer role. You will work on hardware, firmware, and semiconductors for systems including IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Systems. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 internship.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform logic (RTL) design and verification.
    • Conduct physical design and analog/IO design.
    • Handle electronic design automation.
    • Perform signal and power integrity analysis.
    • Manage microelectronics packaging and materials characterization.
    • Execute mechanical design, modeling, and technology integration.
    • Work on circuit and electrical design.
    • Manage printed circuit board physical design and layout.
    • Conduct thermal design and testing.
    • Manage voltage regulation and power delivery.
    • Develop performance models.
    • Validate and test processors and systems.
    • Characterize processors and components.
    • Provide customer and field engineering support.
    • Analyze firmware architecture, development, and test failures.
    • Manage product quality, assurance, specification, and analytics.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Optics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • A focus on growth, teamwork, and outcomes.
    • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, architecture, programming languages, hardware description languages, and circuit simulation tools.
    • At least three months of experience designing or manufacturing hardware products is preferred.
