About the role#
IBM Research is hiring a Summer Research Intern to work on integrated circuits for quantum computing. You will join a team focused on building scalable, fault tolerant quantum systems. The work centers on developing CMOS-based electronics to support quantum hardware. This internship is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the development of advanced integrated circuits for quantum computing applications.
- Participate in design projects from initial concept and architecture exploration to system integration.
- Manage tasks related to IC bring-up and testing.
- Collaborate with researchers on circuit design, layout, verification, and measurement.
What you'll need#
- Current studies in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering.
- A strong foundation in the design and layout of integrated circuits.
- Expertise in RF, mixed-signal, or digital design.
- Successful design release (tape out) experience in deep submicron CMOS technology.
- Thorough knowledge of the Cadence IC design framework.
- Strong programming skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A track record of participation in multi-disciplinary research and development projects.
- A proven record of research accomplishment, such as publications.
