About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern in the Infrastructure department, you will work on enterprise software solutions. You will help build products related to hybrid cloud, storage, security, and systems management. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to create tools that help clients manage their IT environments.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software using modern engineering practices.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
- Collaborate with product management, architects, quality assurance, and operations teams.
- Build scalable, secure, and performant applications, APIs, and backend components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to technical design reviews and code reviews.
- Create technical documentation, test plans, and operational procedures.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Support agile processes by participating in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
- Understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and data structures.
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of Git, Linux/Unix environments, and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with databases, cloud computing concepts, and containerization.
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker.
- Understanding of software testing, debugging, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud platforms, infrastructure management, or cybersecurity technologies.
- Familiarity with AI/ML, automation frameworks, or SRE practices.
- Exposure to IBM technologies, IBM Cloud, or Red Hat OpenShift is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role follows a hybrid work arrangement.
- The internship term is rolling.
- Candidates must be willing to work at the location where they are assigned within the United States.
