About the role#
IBM Quantum builds quantum computing systems, software, and cloud services. The Data Analytics and Engineering team enables data-driven decisions by building scalable platforms and analytics solutions. As an intern, you will work where data science meets analytics engineering and platform development. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Client Success, and Marketing teams to turn data into insights that guide strategic and operational decisions.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, development, and enhancement of the IBM Quantum data and analytics platform.
- Build data models, dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools.
- Apply analytics engineering practices to improve data reliability, governance, and accessibility.
- Perform advanced data analyses to find trends and actionable business insights.
- Collaborate with internal teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
- Design and implement data pipelines and transformations.
- Communicate findings through visualizations, presentations, and written reports.
- Contribute to team documentation and the continuous improvement of analytics practices.
What you'll need#
- Experience with Python and data science libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying large datasets and performing data transformations.
- Experience with statistical modeling, forecasting, experimentation, or machine learning.
- Familiarity with analytics engineering tools such as dbt.
- Exposure to data ecosystem technologies like Airflow, Apache Spark, or Presto/Trino.
- Experience working with large-scale event, product, or operational datasets.
- Knowledge of Git, software development practices, and CI/CD workflows.
- Prior experience through internships, research, or open-source projects in data science or platform development.
- Current enrollment in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team.
