About the role#
As an Intern Cybersecurity Specialist, you will work with experienced professionals to solve business and technology challenges. This role provides hands-on experience in protecting critical systems and strengthening cyber resilience. You will develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while contributing to projects across various industries. This internship is designed to prepare students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting.
What you'll do#
- Support cybersecurity initiatives related to security operations, governance, risk management, compliance, and cyber resilience.
- Analyze security requirements, document processes, and assist with cybersecurity assessments.
- Contribute to security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, identity and access management, and threat detection.
- Analyze security events and operational data to identify trends and support decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technology and business projects.
- Assist with testing, validating, and supporting cybersecurity solutions.
- Participate in project meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, and enterprise technology environments.
- Demonstrated application of technical or analytical skills through coursework, projects, labs, or competitions.
- Interest in cybersecurity operations, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and digital business solutions.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as threat intelligence, vulnerability management, or recognized security frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
