About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support patient care and pharmacy operations. This is a part-time position.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Provide prompt, friendly service to customers.
- Counsel patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and performing monthly counts.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and the confidentiality of patient medical information.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees and help in other areas of the store as needed.
- Follow all security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Six months or less of similar work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Skill in applying logical and scientific thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to compose correspondence and evaluate technical data.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, as well as reach and bend repetitively.
- Capability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
