About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you will support pharmacy operations in a retail environment. This role involves working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with daily tasks, maintain inventory, and provide service to customers. You will gain hands-on experience in a community pharmacy setting while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions according to state and federal regulations.
- Provide prompt and friendly service to pharmacy customers.
- Manage inventory by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering data into the computer system.
- Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Assist with training employees and performing monthly inventory counts.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow security procedures and maintain the confidentiality of customer medical information and prescription pricing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Six months or less of related work experience.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Capacity to follow technical manuals and apply logical or scientific thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
