About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Auditing Internship based at the Hy-Vee corporate office in West Des Moines, Iowa. The position runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the potential for occasional overtime. The role provides flexibility for time off and includes opportunities to visit supply chain and manufacturing facilities, attend leadership meetings, and participate in company-wide intern events.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside upper-level accounting and auditing staff.
- Assist with financial, operational, and compliance audits.
- Perform audit procedures and test transactions for cash disbursements, cash receipts, payroll, benefit plans, and 401(k) accounts.
- Conduct store and inventory audits.
- Perform financial statement audit work at subsidiary locations.
- Complete internal control reviews of various processes.
- Present and review audit findings with management.
- Attend monthly Accounting Department meetings.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of relevant college education.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in accounting.
- A basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify problems and execute solutions.
- Ability to interact with basic computer systems, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
