About the role#
Horizon Health Services offers a clinical internship for the Spring 2027 semester. This role provides practical experience in outpatient clinics, residential facilities, or inpatient and detox settings. Interns work directly under the supervision of clinicians and program directors.
What you'll do#
- Assist the primary clinician in providing patient services.
- Organize and supervise patient urine screens.
- Perform medication counts to track prescription adherence.
- Prepare for and co-facilitate group therapy sessions.
- Draft case or progress notes.
- Assist with clinical assessments and treatment plans.
- Communicate with collaterals and coordinate patient care.
- Help with insurance authorizations, court reports, and status updates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level program for Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, or a related Health and Human Services field.
- The internship must be a requirement of your degree program.
- Constant and continuous access to email.

- Location: Getzville, New York.
- Term: Spring 2027 (January 2027 through May 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for school credit.
- Schedule: Placements are available Monday through Friday.
